GBGH is seeking a Vice President, People, Culture & Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to join our Executive Leadership Team. This strategic role reports to the President and CEO offering the opportunity to shape how we lead, support, and invest in our people. The leader in this role will influence culture, steward strong partnerships across all levels of the hospital and with regional collaborators, and guide people strategies that reflect our commitment to making excellent care personal.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Vice President, People, Culture & CHRO will provide strategic and operational leadership across the People Services portfolio. This includes oversight of human resources, labour relations, occupational health and safety, organizational development, equity, inclusion, and belonging, leadership development, emergency preparedness, security services, as well as academic and volunteer relations. Other areas of responsibility may be assigned based on the successful candidate’s experience and interests.

This is a forward-looking role ideal for a leader who brings curiosity, integrity and a genuine commitment to people-first leadership. They will act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors and will represent GBGH on system-level committees and collaborative networks. The position is instrumental in supporting our continued growth as a hospital and daily pursuit of making GBGH a hospital where people want to work, practice, learn and volunteer. This role will continually seek feedback, ideas and input from those in and outside the organization in a relentless drive to improve the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

We are seeking a senior leader with deep experience in people strategy, organizational culture, and system level leadership. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to building an inclusive and supportive environment where individuals can grow, lead, and contribute meaningfully to the hospital’s purpose and priorities.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • A minimum of 10 years in a health system leadership role, including at least 5 years of strategic leadership of a human resources portfolio in a complex, diverse organization
  • Degree or master’s degree in human resources, health administration, organizational development, or a related field
  • CHRE designation or progress toward certification is strongly desired
  • Applied knowledge of organizational change, talent development, and workforce planning
  • Demonstrated leadership in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Experience leading and collaborating with labour relations partners, with strong interpersonal skills in negotiation, conflict resolution, and consensus building
  • Oversight of total rewards including compensation, pay equity, pension, and benefits
  • Proven ability to lead digital transformation of human resources functions, including strategic use of technology, analytics, and enterprise systems
  • A collaborative, respectful leadership style with the ability to mentor strong teams and foster continuous learning, growth and improvement
  • Excellent communicator and relationship-builder with the ability to engage at all levels and lead with empathy, integrity, and alignment with GBGH’s values and employee value proposition
  • Willingness to participate in the Senior Management Team’s on-call rotation
  • As a partially designated French-speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset


COMPENSATION
A competitive compensation package will be offered, aligned with the responsibilities of the role and the experience of the successful candidate is available with salary range from $180,000 to $220,000 in addition to pay for performance compensation (up to 8%), comprehensive benefits, HOOPP Pension, Education trust funds, wellness and education loans as well as support for professional development.
